Mesa Grande AcademyBasic InformationIntroduction
Originally established in 1928, Mesa Grande Academy is a K-12th grade school with a small teacher-to-student ratio. This is to ensure that each student will get the amount of help they need, when they need it. This is just one of the many excellent facts about this school. Below are just a few of the other things we offer. Mission Statement Mesa Grande Academy will train its students to make the most of their God-given potential and develop a commitment to His excellence by becoming spiritual seekers, inquiring scholars, skilled communicators and responsible citizens. Programs Mesa Grande offers a chance for students in grades 5-12 to become part of a robotics team. They regularly compete to see which team's robot is the best at each course. Mesa Grande provides hot lunches to any child who has not been provided one from home. These lunches cost $3.50 for elementary students, and $4.00 for high school students. Mesa Grande's Home and School program sells script as a fundraiser for the school. It offers script for many various grocery stores, gas stations, departments/specialty stores, and restaurants. Basketball games also seem to be the most attended. Our spring sports are Golf, Baseball, and Softball. All of these sports are fairly accomplished and have earned quite a few awards, including one for the accumulative GPA of all the team members on the basketball team. Classes Mesa Grande offers excellent math and science classes taught by friendly, well trained teachers. These courses include, but are not limited to Algebra I and II, Geometry, Biology, Chemistry, and Anatomy & Physiology. Also know for our creative arts programs, we offer great classes such as Art, Band, Choir, Coral, Drama, Handbells, Photography, and Yearbook. Various other classes that are offered include Spanish I & II, Life Skills, Government, Economics, Public Speaking, Woodworking I, II, & III, Auto Mechanics, and a few History and Bible courses. Mesa Grande also has two AP classes offered every-other-year for Junior and Seniors. Those two recommended classes are AP English and AP Physics. We are also working on getting AP Chemistry. Major Trips There are several exciting trips offered. Freshmen year students get to experience a few short trips as part of their Life Skills class. During these trips they learn about manners and how to decorate/design a room in a house. Sophomore year the Biology class gets to take a trip up to central California. There they learn about birds by early morning bird watching, sea animals by exploring tide pools, and other animals and plants by many other different activities. Some students look back at all of the trips and declare this one their absolute favorite. Every two years there is a History Tour for Juniors and Seniors. This trip takes students all the way across the country to the East coast. There they learn about their political history and get to go to many places including the Statue of Liberty, the White House, Arlington National Cemetery, Ellis Island, the Lincoln Memorial, and so much more. Seniors get to go on a class trip of about four days to a location of their choice, and on a Spanish II trip. Every year the choir, coral, handbells, and drama classes take a tour to different places and perform for many different schools and churches. There is also a yearly mission trip offered to any of the high school students to various locations in or near Mexico. This trip is also connected with the Calimesa and Yucaipa SDA Churches. |
